About Beltline

Beltline is Calgary's most densely-populated urban core community — the inner-city district immediately south of downtown, bounded by the railway tracks to the north and 17 Avenue SW to the south. The Beltline contains Calgary's highest concentration of high-rise condominiums and apartment buildings, with thousands of residents living in walk-up, mid-rise, and tower buildings throughout. The community is fundamentally urban — walkable, restaurant-dense, transit-rich, and almost entirely free of single-family homes.

The community's signature features are 17 Avenue SW (the famous "Red Mile" — Calgary's premier restaurant, bar, and shopping strip), 4 Street SW (a quieter restaurant strip with Mission and Connaught district overlap), and Lindsay Park / MNP Centre — the community recreation hub. The Beltline is home to thousands of professionals, young couples, and downtown commuters who value being within walking distance of work, dining, and entertainment.

Schools serving the Beltline include Western Canada High School (CBE, 10-12) within the community — one of Calgary's top-ranked public high schools. Connaught School (CBE, K-9) handles K-9 students. The community is essentially in downtown Calgary — walking distance to office buildings, the LRT (multiple stations), and the entire downtown core. Many Beltline residents do not own cars.

The Beltline's resale market is dominated by condominiums: studio and 1-bedroom condos from $250K, 2-bedroom condos $400K-$700K, premium high-rise units $700K-$1.5M, and penthouses $1.5M-$3M+. Single-family homes within the Beltline are extraordinarily rare. The community's combination of urban density, walkability, and downtown adjacency keeps Beltline among Calgary's most consistently strong condo markets. Compare to East Village, Mission, and Sunalta.

Beltline residents are predominantly young professionals, downtown workers, and students at SAIT and downtown campuses. 17 Avenue SW — the Red Mile during Flames playoffs — anchors the southern edge with hundreds of restaurants, bars, boutique fitness studios, and patios. Stampede Park sits on the community's eastern edge and brings the 10-day Calgary Stampede event each July. New high-rise condo towers continue to add inventory, and the Green Line LRT (planned south extension) has Beltline as a primary corridor station, supporting long-term resale potential.
