About Mahogany
Mahogany is Calgary's largest lake community, anchored by a 38-acre freshwater lake at the heart of one of southeast Calgary's most ambitious master-planned developments. Built by Hopewell Residential since 2007, Mahogany has grown into a complete community with the Mahogany Beach Club as its centrepiece — offering private beach access, paddleboarding, kayaking, summer swimming, and winter ice skating exclusively for Mahogany residents.
The community wraps the lake with detached single-family homes, semi-detached, townhomes, and condominium developments. Westman Village — the high-density mixed-use commercial node at Mahogany's northwest edge — adds restaurants, retail, and a community gym to the lakefront experience. Mahogany's wetlands and walking paths circle the lake, and the South Health Campus and Seton retail district sit minutes away.
For schools, Mahogany School (CBE, K-4) serves elementary needs, with All Saints High School (CCSD, 10-12) in adjacent Auburn Bay and Centennial High School in nearby Cranston serving public high school students. The community is bordered by Stoney Trail SE to the south (fast airport access), Auburn Bay to the north, and Cranston to the west — downtown Calgary is ~25-30 minutes via Deerfoot Trail.
Mahogany's resale market typically ranges from townhome entry points around $500K to $1M+ for waterfront and lake-view detached homes. The community's combination of true year-round lake access, modern amenities, and the South Health Campus has kept Mahogany among Calgary's strongest-selling communities since opening. Browse our other lake communities including Auburn Bay and Lake Bonavista.
Mahogany attracts a mix of move-up families, professionals working at the South Health Campus, and downsizers drawn to the lake and walkable Westman Village. Annual events include the Mahogany Lake Day in summer and the lakeside Christmas tree lighting in December. The community has roughly 25 km of pathway, a dedicated dog beach, and three internal parks. Bus routes connect Mahogany to the Somerset-Bridlewood C-Train station for commuters who prefer transit over Deerfoot Trail.
