About Cranston

Cranston is southeast Calgary's escarpment community, perched on the bluff overlooking the Bow River valley with some of the city's most spectacular natural-setting homes. Developed by Brookfield Residential since 2000, Cranston spans more than 1,000 acres and includes the prestigious Riverstone of Cranston — a luxury sub-area of estate homes that ranks among Calgary's premier addresses.

The community's signature feature is its proximity to Fish Creek Provincial Park and the Bow River pathway system — Calgary's largest urban park is essentially Cranston's backyard. Century Hall, the residents' community centre, hosts events and provides amenities to homeowners. The historic Bow Valley Ranche restaurant in adjacent Fish Creek Park is one of Calgary's signature dining destinations.

Schools include Cranston School (CBE, K-4), Cranston School Catholic (CCSD), and Centennial High School (CBE, 10-12) located within the community itself — making Cranston one of the rare Calgary suburbs where students can walk to high school. The Seton retail district and South Health Campus are 5-10 minutes south. Stoney Trail SE provides fast Calgary-wide access; downtown is approximately 25 minutes via Deerfoot Trail.

Cranston's resale market spans a wide range: townhomes from around $400K, mid-range detached homes $550K-$900K, and Riverstone luxury estate homes from $1M to $3M+. The community's combination of natural setting, on-site amenities, and Riverstone's exclusivity has made Cranston one of Calgary's most diverse high-quality communities. See nearby Mahogany and Auburn Bay for comparison.

Cranston buyers are a mix of growing families drawn to the schools and natural setting, and active retirees who want trail access without leaving the city. The Cranston Residents Association runs the private clubhouse with tennis courts, a splash park, hockey rink, and event programming throughout the year. Riverstone — the bottom tier of the community sitting closest to Fish Creek Park — commands premium pricing for its walkout lots and river-bluff views. Annual events include the Cranston Stampede Breakfast and the summer concert series at the residents-only park.
