About New Brighton

New Brighton opened in the early 2000s with a simple pitch: bring the McKenzie Towne walkable-village idea to a slightly larger lot and add a private clubhouse with a hockey rink. It worked. New Brighton has been one of SE Calgary's most consistently popular communities for two decades, and the resale market here moves quickly almost any season.

The New Brighton Clubhouse is the community's social anchor — outdoor pool, splash park, tennis courts, hockey rink, and year-round programming run by the residents association. Annual events include the Stampede Breakfast, Halloween parade, and outdoor movie nights that locals plan their weekends around.

Schools are well covered: New Brighton School (CBE) serves K-4, Dr. Martha Cohen handles 5-9, and Centennial High School is the public 10-12 catchment. All Saints High School (CCSD) covers Catholic high school, with Janet Johnstone School serving Catholic K-9. Most families in New Brighton can walk their kids to elementary school, which sounds simple but is genuinely hard to find in newer Calgary subdivisions.

Pricing runs $475K townhomes through $750K detached, with the largest estate-style homes near the central pond reaching $850K+. The buyer profile skews family with school-age children and second-time move-up buyers from condos. Stoney Trail SE access is excellent — airport in 20 minutes, downtown in 25 via Deerfoot. Cross-shop with McKenzie Towne, Copperfield, and Cranston when comparing the SE family corridor.
